    Why are electronic references important?

Digital Reference Books. Some print books are enhanced when adapted to run on a computer. Unfortunately, not all 'computer books' take advantage of the positive aspects of computer technology (multiple sensory cues, interactivity, the ability to save information, or to use it in other applications). Some computer books have been criticized as glorified page-turners. More often than not, though, this is the fault of the design team, and not of the computer medium itself. As the technology improves, we hope, also, the ergonomics and originality of computer books will improve.

Advantages of Electronic References. We feel that some of the best books to adapt to the computer medium are reference books. This is where electronic books really shine, as they can be used for fast searches, for moving information among documents, and for doing comparative studies in ways that are impossible with traditional print books.
