The Grand Uncle of humor columns, particularly political satire and social commentary, Buchwald was born in the first world war baby boom and began his career as a columnist in Paris. Syndicated by the Los Angeles Times, he is now enjoyed in over 500 newspapers and doesn't look like he's in any hurry to retire, lucky for us!

Born just two years after Buchwald, Bombeck was a journalist and mom. What a sad loss when a kidney ailment took her from us a few short years ago. Erma Bombeck lightened our hearts and helped us accept the ups and downs of family life for decades. She was beloved by readers in more than 1000 newspapers.

Born in the early part of the WW II baby boom, Dave Barry is the current 'leading man' of humor. Barry is a wildly popular humor columnist who also hides out behind a desk at the Miami Herald. He's had a TV show, has written many humor books, and lately released his first novel.

A humor columnist and published author (in her more serious moments) Julie Benson was born near the end of the baby boom years (yeah, okay, so she's the youngest one on this list---so what). She skulks around the Pacific Northwet and travels whenever she can find the time, looking for the poignant and satirical sides of life that she shares in her column 'Almost True.' Those other guys up above, they're famous. Julie's not. Well, okay, not as a humor columnist. They write humor for a living---she writers other stuff for a living and does this for fun. She wanted to hide behind the sunglasses, but her friends said it looked "too sinister." So what's wrong with looking sinister? Okay, okay. Friendly it is. Sheesh.
